BLUEBERRY CRUMB CAKE {A LOW VOLUME QUILT}

OKAY,
so while the puppy was sleeping,
I thought that it would be the perfect
time to bang out a blog post
about my
low volume quilt,

but then
I remembered that my 2 legged family
also needed
to be fed.
I seriously considered forcing them to eat
leftovers again for the 3rd night in a row,
but I decided that pizza was the perfect solution.

No complaints in our house,
because pizza is like it's own food group!

Anyway, I got caught up in the sweet smell & carbohydrate nightmare
of the pizza
and I forgot about the blog post.

RECAP

2 Quilts done in 2 weeks.
You can read about the process HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE.

I used various cream, beige, and white fat quarters from my stash (all Moda fabrics).
There are quite a few Fig Tree, 3 Sisters, & Bonnie & Camille prints
in the quilt.
I was glad to finally use them!

For the blue triangles, I used fabric from the Simplicity by Three Sisters for Moda fabrics
and Essential Dots fabric lines.

For the binding I used my forever favorite Simply Color by Vanessa of V and Co.

Finished Block Size 12"

Large Low Volume Quilt
84" X 84"
7 rows of 7 blocks

Smaller Low Volume Quilt
60" X 60"
5 rows of 5 blocks

Machine Quilted using Quilt-As-You-Go method.
More on this topic in a future post to come.

So when you are the mom of a new puppy
it is hard to find time/a way to take photos of your quilts.
I had to resort to begging
Hubby to be my quilt holder (not so easy anymore when you have a new puppy
nipping at your feet)!

So here are the best of the bunch.
The larger quilt is first:

Up next is the smaller quilt:

Since I wasn't pleased with these photos
(sorry Hubby not my idea of holding the quilt),
I decided to take my own photos while the
puppy was out for his walk:

Then the puppy came home and did this:

  7. I'm not usually a fan of low volume, but I really like this one. I think maybe it's those little blue triangles that really set it off. (Cute puppy!)

  8. Why is it that you don't show the back of your quilts, using the Quilt As You Go method?
I would like to see what the back of your "Blueberry-Crumb-Cake" QAYG looks like.
Do you have any pictures of it online yet? If so, where can I find it?
