While I was outside drinking my morning cup of tea,
I was flipping through the
August/September 2010 issue of Quilter's Home Magazine.
The article about seam rippers caught my eye.
I was wasn't exactly sure why it caught my eye,
but there was something familiar about it.
I went inside and checked.
and there it was:
my seam ripper appeared on the list of seam rippers tested.
#7: Dritz Large Ergonomic Seam Ripper
(I honestly didn't know the name of it or where/when
I bought it.)
My purple ripper received and overall rating of 2.5
on a scale of 0-5.
I never gave it much thought, but I think that I would have
given it the same score.
None the less, it does it's job.
Congrats to my Purple Seam Ripper for
being among the brands of seam rippers that were tested!
What kind of seam ripper do you use?
Do you have a preference?

I actually love the seam ripper that came with my Janome; looks a bit like maybe #2 in the picture up there although I can't really tell. What kind of ranking did they give it?
ReplyDeleteI have about 5 or 6 seam rippers. The sharpest is the one from Clover, but I love the one that came with my Janome, cause it’s gently ripping the seams.
ReplyDeleteI use that newish Gingher one. It looks it might be the one next to the green one almost out of sight on that first page you show. I'd rate that one really high, so I hope they did too. *S*
ReplyDeleteI know it's won some design awards. I just love it.
I bought a Clover seam ripper recently and it's really nice. I have another one similar to #5 in the mag article. That's my ripper of last resort ;)
ReplyDeleteI have several seam rippers that I keep in different spots...I have the Clover and the one that came with my Janome that I use quite a bit and a couple of "no name" rippers
ReplyDeleteSitting here catching up on blogs and while reading yours it occurred to me that I never received that issue of QH - so I checked my pile (read and not) and sure enough, no August/September issue! A fast call to QH took care of that - thanks for this post - looks like an issue I can't afford to miss (Quilters Who Hoard)!
ReplyDeleteAnd I use a seam ripper much like yours, but by F&P, although I think I have all but #6.
Thanks again!
I use the Clover seam ripper, the slim one with the brown handle. I just love it. It has a rigid
ReplyDeletecover to protect the blade.
Go Stefanie. What's a ripper! Hugs Nat
