FARMER'S WIFE SAMPLER QUILT {I GAVE IN...}

{WARNING----PHOTO INTENSE POST}

COMPLETED Farmer's Wife Quilts have been popping up everywhere
in Blogland.
Bloggers have been working on this quilt forever!
When I first saw the quilt blocks/quilts,
I just didn't think that it was
a project for me.
So I happily admired them from afar.

THEN
started the Quilt Barn revolution.

I made my first Quilt Barn Block here:

THEN,
I was hooked on making those 6" blocks!
I loved them so much
that I gave in and started my own
Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt!

As you can see,
I am sticking to all solids for this quilt
and NO white!

I am using Moda Bella Solids from my stash.

I am trying to train myself
to see color first
and not the print.

I am making the blocks in order
because if I don't
I'll loose track of which blocks I have done.

I am using templates (not paper piecing).

So far I have skipped the blocks
with applique (not into it)
and the ones with tiny pieces.
I will do those later because I don't want to get discouraged.

So here are my Farmer's Wife Sampler Blocks:

Block #1: Attic Window

Block #2: Autumn Tints

Block #4: Basket Weave

Block #6: Big Dipper

Block #8: Bouquet

I am also linking up to Ellie of Craft Sew Create.
She is hosting a Farmer's Wife Friday.

and one last photo of them all together
because I L-O-V-E them!

Until Next Time ... Happy Quilting

  1. love your solid blocks. My solution for many of the tiny pieces (half square triangles, hourglass) is to make them bigger then trim them to size. Won't work for everything but often it does.

  4. Oh Stefanie, these look amazing! I have not seen one done with all solids and I am loving the result! I'm already wondering what color you are going to sash them with. :)So glad you caught the bug, can't wait to see more! Thanks for linking up!

  7. Really, everyone does seem to be compelled to do a Farmer's Wife! I like that you embraced it with a little freshness by using solids. I am embracing a long project of making Dear Jane blocks - which some days I think maybe I should have chosen the Farmer's Wife or Civil War Series instead since they are bigger blocks! Oh well...! Your blocks look great. Can't wait to see what the finished quilt looks like.
