Project #3 of the Jelly Roll Challenge
is a simple table runner.
This would be perfect for just about any season/ jelly roll
and it can be created
quickly.
Supplies Needed:
- (8) Coordinating jelly roll strips or (8) 2 1/2" X Width of Fabric (WOF) strips. I used 12 Days of Christmas by Kate Spain for Moda.
- 1/2 Yard of Bella Solid Ivory
- 1/2 Yard of Bella Solid Red for binding
- 1 Yard of Coordinating fabric for backing
- 3/4 yard of batting
Cutting:
- From the Bella Solid Ivory, cut (8) 6 1/2" X 8 1/2" rectangles
Construction:
Step 1:
- Choose (8) coordinating jelly roll strips.
- With Right Sides Together (RST) , sew (2) jelly roll strips together.
- Repeat for the other jelly roll strips.
- Press open.
Step 2:
- With RST, sew (2) jelly roll strip sets together.
- Repeat and make (2) 8 1/2" X WOF strip sets.
Step 3:
- Press the strip sets open.
- You should have (2) strip sets.
Step 4:
- From the first strip set, cut (4) 6 1/2" X 8 1/2" blocks.
Step 5:
- From the second strip set, cut (3) 8 1/2" X 18 1/2" rectangles.
Step 6:
- With RST, join the blocks according to the following diagram.
- Press the block open.
- Repeat and make a total of (4) 8 1/2" X 18 1/2" blocks.
Step 7:
- With RST, join the blocks according to the following diagram.
- Press the block open.
- Repeat and make (3) sets.
Step 8:
- With RST, join the 3 sections together.
- Be sure to add the final white/jelly roll strip set/white section to the bottom.
Step 9:
- Make a quilt sandwich using the quilt top, batting, and backing fabric.
- Baste the layers together.
- Quilt as desired.
- Attach the binding to the table runner.
