SWEET CELEBRATIONS BLOG HOP [MY STOP AND GIVEAWAY}

****Giveaway is now closed!****
Hello to all of the Sweet fans that are here to
celebrate the release of the
Moda Bake Shop's
newest book!

This is truly a great book filled with projects to celebrate
every occassion.
(My projects celebrate the 4th of July and birthdays but you will have to purchase the book in order to see them.)

While we are on the subject of celebrating,
I thought that I would share my favorite cake recipe.
It is SUPER easy and fun to make!

You can also download my recipe here.

Our favorite Moda Bake Shop

expert, Oda May,

stopped by earlier to get the "skinny" (ha ha)

on me.

Here is what Oda May asked me:

Oda May: What is your favorite holiday memory?

Me: I love the Fourth of July! I live in a small town and every Fourth of July our city puts on a big celebration. During the day, there is usually a parade. Once the sun sets, everyone meets at the park/lake for a concert put on my the Symphony. Before the fireworks and concert begin, there is a flyover done by the pilots from the Navy Base. A few years ago my husband was the lead pilot in the flyover! This was my favorite Fourth of July memory!

Oda May: Do you celebrate with cupcakes, cake pops, or just plain old cake?

Me: We (I mean me) usually celebrate with cake!  My preference would be chocolate! The bigger the piece the better!

Oda May: Speaking of cake, do you prefer a corner piece or a center piece when eating cake? Or do you not like to discriminate?

Me: I like corner pieces because they have more frosting!

Oda May: If you could patchwork bomb a spot in your town, where would you choose and why?

Me: I would cover our City Hally with patchwork! It is located in the center of downtown and was originally built in 1915. The building recently underwent renovations to preserve its original architecture.

In my eyes, those grand steps would look beautiful covered in bright and bold patchwork!

Here is what it would look like with a little bit of
Simply Color by V and Co.
and
Odds And Ends by Cosmo Cricket:

Oda May: If you could have a quilt shop spree, which items would you snag off the shelf?

Me:That is an easy question! I would grab one jelly roll, layer cake, and charm pack of each fabric line just to be on the safe side!

  169. I really like charm packs & will probably not be able to use up all of the charm packs I have in my lifetime, but I keep buying more.

  170. I did just that....I bought a jelly roll, layer cake, 2 charm packs and coordinating fabric of my fave line....Urban Cowgirls! Am working on a jelly roll race quilt now! Love it.....I love buying coordinating packs of precuts...that way, I've got enough for whatever I choose to make!

  171. Jelly rolls are my favorite pre-cut. You can create amazing designs and without much cutting. Thanks for a chance!

  173. Fat quarter bundles are my favorite (it's the most fabric) but I also love charm packs where you get a little sample of everything for not too much expense.

  174. My favorite pre-cut is the Jelly Rolls! I love to decorate with them ... I mean, who could ever unroll them when they are so cute just as they come?!? Thanks for the chance to win ... and I love what your City Hall would look like if you decorated it!

  175. I used to think that jelly rolls were my favorite and I have used a few but I have been having great fun with those cute little charm squares. Pre-cuts are great for beginner quilters like me.

  180. I love layer cakes because they're so versatile.

  181. I love FQ bundles, but layer cakes would be my second choice. With larger scale prints, you really need that bigger cut.

  182. I would love fat quarter bundles, but due to the cost, have never owned one! I buy charm packs (and recently signed up for a mini charm club) to share the love over as many favorites as possible and splurge on a jelly roll for my very favorites.

  183. I don't have any favorite Moda pre-cuts - I love them all!

  184. My favorite is a charm pack, I feel less guilt when I buy them!! And they are easy to hide from certain people in my house who think I may already have enough fabric.

  185. Fat quarter bundles are my favorites, because I like scrappy quilts and I'm always afraid I'll run out of my favorite fabrics!

  186. Fat quarter bundles are definitely my favourite, but I am thinking I may start working with jelly rolls as well! Thanks for the chance to win

  187. Fat Quarters are the precuts I tend to be drawn too, but I've tried others.
    Thanks

  188. I love all of the precuts but just love how pretty a fat quarter bundle looks!

  189. Layer cakes are my favorite for lines that I absolutely must have, but I usually just get a charm pack to satisfy my itch for a particular line.

  191. I love them all. Jelly rolls are my favorite though.

  192. Favorite would have to be a fat eighth-lots of fabric yet still affordable. Sometimes hard to get though.

  193. I really like Jelly Rolls. (Although I would love to just skip that and buy the fat quarter bundle... but I cannot afford them all!)

  196. HI! I have not used Charms yet. I love the Jellyrolls and Fat quarters. There is so much one can do with them, but, it really is the colors and patterns that are put together in the jellyrolls that absolutely catch my eye! I fall in love with quilting all over a million times because of the divine colors of the jellyrolls.
