The Seam Ripper (Part 2)

I never thought that a seam ripper could

generate such a buzz!

In Part One of the Seam Ripper,

I introduced you to

my purple seam ripper.

I learned that many of our fellow quilters'

love some of the top ranked

seam rippers in the Quilter's Home article.

Here is a glimpse of the seam rippers

that were tested, the categories, and overall ranking.

Kaye Prince of Miss Print loves her Janome seam ripper,

which received an overall score of 3.

Nicolette of Dutch Comfort,  Jennifer of Mini Mushrooms, 

Quiltingnana,  and Christina D

all love the Clover Seam Ripper,

which received an overall rating of 3.5.

It was also interesting to note that many quilters

own more that one seam ripper!

Which leads me to the second part of this post.

The other day while I was cleaning up my studio,

I came across this:

Fabric: Fandango by Kate Spain for Moda

I realized that I also owned another seam ripper.

This one was tucked away in a drawer

and I hadn't used it in quite some time.

This seam ripper wasn't one of the brands

that was tested, but

I do enjoy it.

It is comfortable and pretty sharp.

The Ripper

While I was outside drinking my morning cup of tea,

I was flipping through the

August/September 2010 issue of Quilter's Home Magazine.

The article about seam rippers caught my eye.

I was wasn't exactly sure why it caught my eye,

but there was something familiar about it.

I went inside and checked.



and there it was:

my seam ripper appeared on the list of seam rippers tested.

#7: Dritz Large Ergonomic Seam Ripper

(I honestly didn't know the name of it or where/when

I bought it.)

My purple ripper received and overall rating of 2.5

on a scale of 0-5.

I never gave it much thought, but I think that I would have

given it the same score.

None the less, it does it's job.

Congrats to my Purple Seam Ripper for

being among the brands of seam rippers that were tested!

What kind of seam ripper do you use?

Do you have a preference?

A Small Finish

Whenever I am trying to get back into the swing

of things,

I tackle the smallest project first.

 When it is done

I feel like I have actually accomplished something!

With this being said,

the stars aligned and I was able to sit down

and do some quilting.

I finished stitching this wall hanging back here

and I thought that it was time to

quilt it.

Now it is ready to be hung up and enjoyed.

This was my first time using flannel.

I really don't have a strong preference either way

about flannel.

 I don't love it and I don't hate it.

How about you?

Does anyone have any thoughts/opinions about flannel?

Sometimes You Need A Break

Sometimes you just need a break!

Time to spend with your family

enjoying and doing things  together.

Things that you normally wouldn't do,

like visit Colorado.

I was hoping for cooler weather,

but it was still unseasonably warm in Colorado.

  

None the less, we had fun :

1. 
   
   Looking for the "Giant Blue Bear" statue

We found him standing outside of the

Denver Convention Center!

2. Taking a train ride at 9000 feet elevation

This is what we saw along the way:

 3.  A walk across the Royal Gorge Bridge

(yes I did say WALK!)

Don't look down because this is what you will see!

 4. A hike up to the Seven Falls

  

5. Another hike through the Garden of the Gods

 to find the Balancing Rock.



 

6. Enjoyed the simplicity of the surroundings.

It was a wonderful vacation

and I am slowly recovering from my break.

My creative juices are starting to flow again

and I hope to get caught up soon.
