Lately I have been obsessed with Charm Packs. If you look here, you will see just how obsessed I am with Charm Packs!
Halloween is right around the corner and I wanted to create a SIMPLE quilt that could be created quickly and be done with a minimal amount of cutting. SPOOK-TACULAR NIGHT can literally be made in a few hours, so grab your favorite Halloween Charm Pack and let's get "spooking"!
Fabric Requirements
- (1) Spook-tacular Charm Pack or (40) 5 " squares
- 1 1/2 yards of Moda Bella Solid: Stone- SKU# 9900-128
- 3/4 Yard of Moda Bella Solid : Black -SKU 990-99 for the borders & binding
- 1 3/4 Yards of Backing Fabric
Cutting Instructions
From Moda Bella Solid Stone, cut:
- (3) 2 7/8" X Width of Fabric (WOF) strips.
- Sub cut each strip into 2 7/8" X 2 7/8" squares.
- You will need a total of (40) 2 7/8" X 2 7/8" squares.
Also from the Bella Solid Stone, cut:
- (2) 1 1/2" X WOF strips.
- Sub cut each strip into 1 1/2" X 9 1/2" rectangles.
- You will need a total of (6) 1 1/2" X 9 1/2" rectangles.
Also from the Moda Bella Solid Stone, cut:
- (2) 1 1/2" X 29 1/2" strips for the sashing
- (2) 1 1/2" X 39 1/2" strips for the sashing
- (2) 1 1/2" X 41 1/2" strips for the sashing
Finally, from the Moda Bella Solid Stone, cut
- (1) 9 1/2" X 21 1/2" rectangle for the center of the quilt
From the Moda Bella Solid Black, cut:
- (2) 2 " X 31 1/2" strips for the quilt borders
- (2) 2" X 44 1/2" strips for the quilt borders
Please note:
- This pattern requires (40) 5" charm squares. The Spooktacular Charm Pack contained (2) Off-white squares that did not match the Bella Solid Stone background fabric. I dug into my stash and replaced these squares. Here is what I came up with:
In Part 2 of the tutorial, we will quickly construct the blocks and assemble the quilt top.
Until Next Time ... Happy Quilting!
